WPHA Phase II of Brookfield Commons Project Press Release

On Tuesday, February 26th, White Plains Housing Authority (WPHA), Trinity Financials, and Hudson Meridian Construction Group (Hudson) sponsored an outreach/ job fair event to inform businesses and local community about job opportunities at Phase II of Brookfield Commons Project. The event took place at White Plains Housing Authority, located at 223 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Blvd in White Plains, NY.

The event was held to inform businesses and the local community about upcoming contracting and employment opportunities concerning Phase II of the Brookfield Commons Project.

Attendees were welcomed by Mr. Mack Carter, Executive Director of WPHA, Sergio F. Serrato, Special Advisor to Majority Leader Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins, White Plains City Council Member Nadine Hunt-Robinson representing the City Council and Mayor Thomas Roach, Jeanne Maloney from Westchester Community College, and Linda McKinzie-Daugherty from Westchester/Putnam Workforce Investment Board (One-Stop).

Phase II of Brookfield Commons is the second phase of the neighborhood revitalization of the White Plains Housing Authority’s 450-unit Winbrook Public Housing Campus, originally built in 1949 and located at the southeast corner of Quarropas Street and South Lexington Avenue. The project is the new construction of a 129-unit apartment building in downtown White Plains that will replace the existing building at 135 South Lexington Avenue.

As developers of Brookfield Commons, Trinity Financial is firmly committed to hiring MWVBEs and local residents during construction of the Phase II of Brookfield Commons. To meet or exceed this goal, Trinity has engaged DACK for the project as the Minority, Women, and Service-Disabled Veteran business and workforce consultant to work closely with Hudson during construction.

DACK implemented extensive grassroots and marketing campaigns to ensure a successful event by fostering vital relationships with community leaders and by collaborating with community-based organizations to inform the local community about the project. As a result, the team secured partnerships with OSHA 30 training and funding organizations that will provide qualified candidates with the required OSHA 30 training to work on the Brookfield Commons project at no expense to the trainees.

The event was a success with approximately 100 local residents and businesses attending, seeking to participate in the project.

There will be a continuous effort throughout the project duration to diligently seek workforce candidates and MWVBE firms to meet or exceed the project goal requirements.
